The Assignments button gives you an overview of assignments which are open, will end soon and will start soon.

Dashboard >> Assignments

Clicking on - the red area will show you how many assignments are open; the yellow area will show you the ones that are starting soon and the blue area will show you the number of assignments that are ending soon.

Clicking on the respective area will show you the details of the assignments.
